Participation

One special and integral aspect of the Roslyn Trinity
Co-op is parent participation. This offers the parent
the opportunity to share and enjoy their child's first
school experience. Parent participation gives further
insight into our program and provides parents with a
better understanding of early childhood as you see the
children's growth and development that occur
throughout the year.

Parents participate in their child's classroom
approximately once per month. Parents have a dual
role on their participation day - to enjoy the time in
the classroom with your child while being the extra
eyes, hands, and ears for the teacher. The
participating parent selects and brings a healthy
snack and is also encouraged to share a particular
interest or talent with the class. Your participation
day is truly a memorable experience.

In March, the Co-op hosts its annual International Bread Month. The participating parent and child are given the opportunity to celebrate their heritage by sharing a special "bread" with the class. The Co-op classes have enjoyed homemade pizza, English scones, challah bread and Korean rice cakes, to name a few. The children have also viewed pictures of classmates' ancestors and learned songs and words in different languages. This special unit of study at the Co-op helps the children to acknowledge and appreciate the differences and similarities between cultures and ethnic backgrounds.

The Nursery School at Roslyn Trinity operates as a cooperative, which means it relies on members to work together to provide services to the whole membership. Participating provides many personal benefits and a great deal of satisfaction, allowing you to use your own special skills to make a difference.
